The goal is to set up a fun story all of you will enjoy, and the players and the DM work together doing this, a DM who is there to show he's got imaginary powers over the PC is just depriving everyone but himself of fun, and even his fun isn't the one DnD was intended to create, it's not fun storytelling, world exploring and battles, it's the fun a man who is trying to get the rush of feeling power over the emotions and happiness of others, but lacks the means to do so through social, economic or political capital to do so in any real way. But the DM shouldn't align himself against the party unless the game is a meat grinder and was presented to the players as such. In fact i prefer every combat encounter to have a very real chance of things going quite badly for the party, but for all of them to have meaning and to give party a fair shot at using their creativity and characters to stack the deck in their favour. Let me preface this by saying that there should be challenge that requires player ingenuity in DnD and a very real risk of failure states and death. That's the type of DM i just flip off and never play with again. It's a nice little reminder, that the PCs should always fear the DM, because the DM can kill them at any moment! Players should experience the fear of their character's mortality every now and then.

HAHAHAHAHAHA (evil laugh) You can imagine the chaos that followed ) So this dude, now charmed, was just drawn to this succubus disguised as a human, and proceeded to court her for the rest of the night.ДЄnd the end of the night, after professing his undying love to the succubus, the succubus instructed him to go back to the tavern, and kill the party. And I had him roll up a straight d20 to see if he could save from the succubus charm effect. He approached this beautiful lady, and instantly fell head over heels for her (little did he know that she was as succubus I had planted in the tavern, and looked human using their polymorph ability). The creature takes 3d6 negative damage and the succubus regains Hit Points equal to the damage dealt. The kiss makes the creature drained 1 or increases its drained condition by 1, to a maximum of 4. And one of the PCs decided to try his luck with the ladies. Effect The succubus engages a creature they have grabbed in an embrace or other act of passion to drain its vital essence. In my game, I think i placed my 4/5 level 3's against like 3 succubi, And it was hilarious (I actually made one of my PCs cry, i'm sadistic, I know)Д«asically the situation was that my PCs were celebrating in a tavern after a recent victory.
